Lions went out to Peter Pan Mini Golf (an Austin classic) this past Friday to have some fun! We played many rounds of mini-golf and enjoyed the different themes at each hole.
Our STEAM Special Committee took Lions to Art in the Park, an art festival for students in K-12th grade with special needs and disabilities. We taught the kids how to make glow-in-the-dark paper flowers and punch out art! Everyone had a great time interacting with the kids and bringing a smile to their faces.
Our Green Team Special Committee hosted a social for our members this past weekend. We went to East Side Succulents to pick out own tsucculents! We re-potted them in old containers (to be environmentally conscious!) and glass mason jars to make some pretty terrific terrariums.
Lion leaped to Dallas and Oklahoma for Spring Break! We volunteered with Dallas area Habitat for Humanity to build furniture for their ReStore. Lions ran different booths with different experiments and demonstrations this past weekend at Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day hosted by The Women in Engineering Program. The over 8000 girls attended the event and were inspired to become interested in STEM! Lions members helped the participants make marshmallow structures and electrical circuits.
The Ambassador Special Committee hosted a two-day dance workshop featuring choreographers from 12 different organizations! The class fees went towards Texas THON, which supports children’s hospitals.
